What makes Hemlock Hills elk products different?
Our elk are raised on our ranch and graze on natural pasture, resulting in exceptionally clean, lean meat. We use simple, wholesome ingredients with no artificial preservatives, fillers, or unnecessary additives — just premium elk and honest seasonings.
Are your meat products nitrate/nitrite-free?
Select products, including our Original Elk No Nitrate Summer Sausage, are made without added nitrates or nitrites. Check individual product descriptions for specific details.
Why do some products contain beef or pork?
Our products are made under strict federal USDA regulations for your health and safety. Under those rules, elk is considered an 'amenable' or exotic species. Certain curing agents cannot be applied to amenable proteins unless a minimum of 3% of an amenable protein is added (such as beef or pork). We add the minimum as required. Since elk is such an extremely lean protein, adding beef/pork does add a bit of moisture without sacrificing the elk flavor and benefits.
Do your snack products require refrigeration?
No! Our elk jerky strips and snack sticks are shelf-stable and require no refrigeration. They're perfect for hiking, travel, camping, road trips, or keeping in your desk drawer for a quick protein boost.
How long do your products last?
Our jerky strips and snack sticks have a shelf life of 12 months when stored in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Always check the best-by date printed on the packaging. We recommend refrigeration after opening.

What size elk antler chew should I choose for my dog?

How long does shipping take?
Orders are typically processed within 1-2 business days. Shipping times vary by location but generally range from 3-7 business days for standard shipping within the continental US.
Do you ship perishable products?
Our jerky, snack sticks, and summer sausages are shelf-stable and ship safely without refrigeration. Supplements and pet products are also non-perishable. We do offer a full line of fresh frozen elk meat cuts available for custom shipping.
